California State Requirements For Childcare Homes

"Title 22 Regulations apply to all community care facilities regulated by the Community Care Licensing Division except where specifically exempted." So states the Department of Social Services Title 22 Regulations online page. Consider this brief summary of Family Child Care regulations.
 
Much of this relates to criminal background checks and procedures and exceptions for those applying to be care givers; this is not covered here.
 
"Licensees shall reveal each facility license number in all advertisements, publications, or announcements made with the intent to attract clients."
 
INSPECTION AUTHORITY OF THE DEPARTMENT
 
"Any duly authorized officer, employee, or agent of the Department shall . . . enter and inspect any place providing personal care, supervision, and services at any time . . . to secure compliance with . . . regulations adopted by the Department governing family child care homes, and in accordance with Section 102396."
 
ALTERATIONS TO EXISTING BUILDING OR GROUNDS
"Prior to making alterations or additions to a family child care home . . .
licensee shall notify the Department . . ."

Long Beach Child Care

Whitcomb Family Daycare, in the Bixby Highlands area of Long Beach (California), is licensed to care for up to fourteen children (when at least two of the children are school-aged, and according to the other California requirements), when two qualified child care providers are present in the home; but the number of children present at one time has seldom passed twelve and is usually much less.
